Ready for another INSANE case of EXTREME CAT HOARDING?  This latest one comes to us from Bradley Beach, New Jersey.

Around 2:00 A.M. on Sunday, firefighters responded to an alarm at 65-year-old Lorraine Smith's house.  Lorraine is a retired teacher who lives alone.

When they got to the house, there was no fire.  What they DID find was 36 DEAD CATS in various states of decomposition around the house.

And they believe THAT'S what set off the fire alarm.  The stench from all of the cats was so strong and thick, it triggered Lorraine's smoke detector.

She's facing 36 counts of animal cruelty, and at least $3,600 in fines for violating housing codes.  (Village Voice)
